BALL OF FOOT PAIN

The ball of the foot is the section of the foot between your arch and toes. As you walk, your weight is shifted from your heel to the ball of your foot. If your body weight is not well aligned over the ball of your foot, pain and swelling of the area can occur.

As we age, we generally lose the fat pad underneath the ball of the foot, leading to abnormal pressure and shock to the area. People with extremely high arches or those who are overweight may also experience ball of foot pain.

SOLUTIONS

  • Use insoles designed to lift and separate the long bones of the arch, transferring pressure away from the ball of foot area
  • Therafit’s superior arch support, along with the deep heel cup, found in the removable sock lining insoles lift and support your foot
  • Limit how often you wear high heels as they can cause an unnatural shift of weight to the balls of your feet
  • Therafit shoes cushion your foot on impact

OVER-PRONATION (FLAT FEET)

Arch pain is common in people with a regular structural problem known as flat feet. Arch pain can also occur in people with fallen arches (a fallen arch is one that has collapsed due to bearing weight).

Flat feet can lead to extreme stress or inflammation of the plantar fascia, possibly leading to severe discomfort and causing other foot ailments. Without properly supported arches, small movements can pull your body out of alignment and cause stress, strain and fatigue to your lower body.

SOLUTIONS

  • Use insoles in your shoes to support your arches
  • Therafit’s superior arch support, along with the deep heel cup, found in the removable socklining insoles lift and support your foot
  • Limit how often you wear high heels
  • Therafit shoes cushion your foot on impact

HEEL PAIN

The heel is the first bone to contact the ground when walking and absorbs the full force of impact and the proceeding shock of bearing weight during motion.

The most common cause of heel pain is plantar fasciitis. Plantar fasciitis is a stretching of the plantar fascia, a ligament that runs from the ball of the foot through the arch and is connected to the heel. It is that attachment which becomes aggravated and typically causes pain after being on your feet for long lengths of time.

Heel spurs, which are abnormal bone growths coming off the heel, can also be the cause of heel pain. Other causes can include repetitive stress or shock to the heel, standing for long periods of time or osteoarthritis.

SOLUTIONS

  • Wear properly fitting shoes
  • Therafit Shoes are made to take the shock of each step and distributing it downward and outward
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Exercise and do foot stretches as they have been shown to decrease the incidence of heel pain
